Cyclone Ockhi wrath: Locals protest alleging negligence by government in rescue operations

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Dec 2 (ANI): Locals in Thiruvananthapuram staged protest against the state government for allegedly not carrying out adequate rescue operation on Saturday. As per the estimates, about 130 fishermen are missing from Thiruvananthapuram after cyclone Ockhi lashed Kerala.

The agitated locals have blocked the national highway to vent their anger. Grieving families of the fishermen are accusing the government for not warning them of the natural disaster hitting the coast of Kerala.

Several fishermen remain untraceable after the cyclone. At least 16 people have died in the cyclone in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.
