Defence experts caution India of Bangladesh-type attacks

New Delhi, July 02 (ANI): National security experts cautioned India after the upscale deadly attack on a cafe in Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka. Six gunmen and at least 20 hostages were killed during the police operation and one was captured alive.

Thirteen other hostages were rescued. Commodore (retired) of Indian Navy, Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar, said Dhaka attack posed a security challenge to the stability of the region.

Major General (retired) of Indian Army, Gagandeep Bakshi, called upon the Indian intelligence and security agencies to heighten vigil because India could be the next target of such attacks. The Bangladesh hostage crisis began when security guards in the Gulshan district of Dhaka, popular with expatriates, noticed several gunmen outside a medical centre.

When the guards approached, the gunmen ran into the Holey Artisan cafe, which was packed with people waiting for tables.
