Devotees celebrate marriage festival of Hindu Lord Rama in Ayodhya

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 24 (ANI): Scores of Hindu devotees celebrated 'Sitaram Vivah Utsav', a marital ceremony of Hindu lord Rama and goddess Sita, in the holy city of Ayodhya. The celestial marriage of Rama and Sita is celebrated every year, throughout the year, whenever the devotees wish to conduct it.

Devotees turned up on roads to take part in the 'Ram Baraat' or the marriage procession of Lord Rama, as artists dressed as Lord Rama and his brother Laxman, travelled in a tableau from Rang Mahal temple to travel across the city, before returning back. Sri Rama and Sita are deeply revered by Hindus as epitome of ideal couple.

Legend has it that Lord Rama's consort Sita was abducted by Ravana, the king of Lanka.
