Farmers of Punjab see new roads for profit in 'Strawberry'

Ludhiana (Punjab), Mar 15: Punjab, the land of five rivers is a north Indian state, known for its riches in agriculture and livestock has found a new abode in strawberries. For years, the farmers have successfully grown the traditional crops like wheat and rice to reap rich dividends.

However, now the farmers of the state claim to have been gaining double the income with strawberries as compared to the cultivation of food grains. Baldev Singh, the Ludhiana Chief Agriculture Officer said, that strawberry farming is being done on 100 acres of land in the state.

The benefits of strawberries are many and in this age of fitness and health, it helps in weight loss and is also a great source of Vitamin C and Vitamin K. With the demand for strawberries growing worldwide, the farmers of Punjab are in for a merry time in the coming years.
