Film industry urges govt to break logjam in FTII

Mumbai, Sep 11 (ANI): Filmmakers from the Indian movie industry appealed to the government to listen to the demands of the students of the premier Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and to end the stand-off that has spanned more than three months. As per reports, more than 180 national award winners came together and wrote a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee urging him to intervene urgently to resolve the ongoing crisis at FTII.

The list includes filmmakers like Aparna Sen, Mani Ratnam, Hansal Mehta, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Kundan Shah and Dibakar Bannerjee among others. The students of FTII in Pune city have been protesting against Gajendra Chauhan's appointment for more than three months.

Raje added that the institute needed a person who had vision and had achieved something professionally, who the students could look up to. The students have demanded central government to hold talks with them to resolve the issue.
