Five dead, 25 injured after Bangalore-Nanded Express collides with lorry in Anantpur

Anantpur/ New Delhi, Aug 24 (ANI): At least five persons were killed and another 25 were injured early on Monday when the Bangalore-Nanded Express train collided with a lorry which was crossing the railway track in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. The accident occurred at around 2:30 am (2100 GMT) at a level crossing at Madakasira in Anantapur district when a truck collided with Bengaluru-Nanded Express.

Preliminary reports confirmed that Karnataka MLA Venkatesh Nayak was also among the five people killed. Recue work has been launched by railway officials and police.

PRO of the Railways, Anil Saxena said that some trains on the South Central and South Western Railway lines have been diverted after the accident.
