Flood alert sounded after heavy rains

Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh), July 19 (ANI): Authorities in Andhra Pradesh sounded a flood alert as incessant rains continued to lash the coastal regions of the state. Heavy rains have triggered flash floods in Srikakulam district and its adjoining regions, inundating the low lying areas.

The continuous downpour has also sent two main rivers- Nagavali and Vamsadhara -in spate, giving tough time to people residing close to the riverbanks. District collector D.

Reddy said the situation was unlikely to improve as the meteorological department had predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in the coming days.
