Good news, though India's bid to permanent seat in UNSC still an elusive formula: Shashi Tharoor

New Delhi, Sep 15 (ANI): Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Tuesday that India's bid to permanency in United Nations Security Council has taken a step forward as its being considered in black and white to reform the security council but to get there is still an elusive formula as two-third majority is required to vote in favour of the motion, which will lead dilution of powers of the permanent five. He also said the permanent five have realized the relevance of prevailing scenario at geopolitical front.

On Monday nearly 200 member countries of the United Nations agreed that over the next year, they will negotiate the wording of a document that will call for reforming the Security Council, the top decision-making body, which has 15 members. Of these, five, including China, Russia and the US, are permanent.

In these written suggestions these five members did not participate which in turn is in India's favour.
