India can play major role in reconstruction of 'Mosul': Iraqi Ambassador to India

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): Speaking to ANI on the liberation of 'Mosul' from the Islamic State (IS) or Daesh, Iraq's Ambassador to India, Fakhri-H-Al-Issa, on Thursday said that India can play a major role in reconstruction of the city. Asserting that 60 to 70 percent of Mosul city has been damaged so faar, the Ambassador added that Iraq is expecting foreign nations like India to come in and participate in rebuilding of the war-torn area.

Adding that Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari's will visit India in the coming days, Issa said the visit will focus on India's role in offering humanitarian assistance to Mosul apart from signing memorandums on agriculture and cooperation between the two nations. On July 9, Iraq had declared victory over the IS terrorist group in the liberated Mosul city.
