India-Pakistan DG level talks begin in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 10 (ANI): India-Pakistan DG level talks have begun in capital New Delhi on Thursday. The talks are being held against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the two countries over comments by its Army chiefs, as well as the Gurdaspur and Udhampur terror attacks.

A 16-member Pakistani Rangers delegation led by Maj Gen Umar Farooq Burki, which arrived in Delhi, was received by BSF commanders. The delegation comprised officials from the Sindh Rangers, Interior Ministry, Survey of Pakistan, anti-narcotic force, and immigration.Post the cancellation of NSA-level talks between the National Security Advisors of the two countries about a fortnight ago, the Director General-level talks between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers will commence.The new agenda from the BSF team, led by its DG D K Pathak, include unprovoked firing/shelling by Pakistani Rangers on BSF posts and deliberate targeting of Indian villages, sniper firing, infiltration attempts by terro
