"It's a sad day to bring people back home in coffins": VK Singh

Amritsar (Punjab), Apr 02 (ANI): Union Minister of State for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh who departed from Iraq with the mortal remains of 38 Indians has reached Punjab's Amritsar on Monday. Singh expressed his emotions by saying that it's a sad day to bring people back home in coffins.

"It's a sad day to bring people back home in coffins, government has left no stone unturned, one promise which my External Affairs Minister had made was without proof we are not going to say whether they are alive or not," said Singh. 40 Indians were abducted by the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq in June 2014.

After four years, on March 20, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj informed the Rajya Sabha members in the Parliament that the 39 Indian nationals, who went missing, were killed by ISIS
