Lack of toilets forces over 200 girls to skip school in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Aug 24 (ANI): The students of a government run school in Jharkhand have left their studies following lack of sanitation facilities. 261 girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Seraikela-Kharswan district stopped attending their classes after they were allegedly eve-teased by local youths.

The school has only five toilets because of which girls were forced to defecate in the open, where they were teased by local miscreants. Moreover, the students say the hostel security was also not adequate.

Youths from the nearby villages could enter the school as it has no boundary wall and harass the hostel inmates. The students have now pledged that till the time the school authorities do not get sufficient number of toilets constructed and tighten the security, they will not go back to the school.
