Mahim Dargah: Beacon of communal harmony in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 02 (ANI): Situated in the bustle of Mahim bazaar in Mumbai, the domed mausoleum of Hazrat Makhdam Ali Mahimi stands tall overlooking Mahim bay and the ramparts of Mahim fort in its picturesque background. For centuries this green and white structure has remained a beacon of communal harmony and brotherhood.

The Dargah dons a special air of tranquility and peace when devotees coming from across the faiths throng the shrine to offer prayers to this 14th century saint. Hazrat Makhdum Ali Mahimi was born in 1372 into a family of Arab travellers from Iraq who settled down on the island of Mahim, now known as Mumbai.

The way this holy shrine is frequented by people of different faiths and communities makes it a great example of communal harmony.
