MoS Home Affairs denies government laxity in Muzaffarpur AES outbreak

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Jun 15 (ANI): Amid the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) outbreak in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district where more than 70 children have died from the deadly disease, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, denied any "government laxity" for the deaths after he visited Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, one of the two facilities where high number of AES cases are being reported. Rai said the mysterious disease, which is also known by the name of Japanese fever, had negligible impact in the last two years in Muzaffarpur but this year, the disease unfortunately killed several children.

Rai, however, ruled out any possibility by saying the central and state government along with district administration are doing whatever they can which include Anganwadi facilities and a Norway medical team visiting the area in recent years, and asked the reporters how can the administration be complacent on such a serious issue.
