Muslim artisan in Surat creates Lord Ganesha's idols ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

Surat, Sept 13 (ANI): The Hindu festival Ganesh Chaturthi has got a Muslim devotee as an artisan in Gujarat who is busy creating Lord Ganesh's idols for the festival that usually lasts for 10 days. A Muslim idol maker, Iqbal Khureshi, in Surat city is spreading a message of communal harmony through his work.

He has been making the idols for over a decade and says he got interested into it when he saw other artists making them. He added that when his customers worship the idols bought from him, he feels he is also worshipping the Lord Ganesh.

Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is celebrated in honour of Ganesh, who is considered the deity of prosperity.
