N Chandrababu Naidu celebrates Raksha Bandhan in Vijaywada

Vijaywada, August 29 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the local people in Vijayawada. The women tied rakhis to Naidu and exchanged sweets and gifts.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party observed state-wide shut down demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the Legislative Assembly session on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Vijayawada saw its shops closed and normal life at a standstill observing the bandh.

Rakshabandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters. On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist.

This symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.
