Newborn declared dead: Inquiry to be held with external agency, says IMA president

New Delhi, Dec 1, (ANI): After a newborn was allegedly declared dead by Max Hospital in Delhi, the Indian Medical Association's president, K.K. Aggarwal, said the culprit should be punished.

He also alleged system failure by the hospital and said that hospitals should have a protocol that no death is to be declared till the temperature of the baby is normal. He asked whether the doctor was inexperience or did it intentionally, need to be known and suggested that an internal inquiry needs to be held with an external agency to find out the reason behind the incident.

A newborn was declared dead along with his still-born twin by Delhi's Max hospital and was about to be buried when his family found him alive.
