Ockhi survivors restrain from celebrating Christmas

Ernakulam (Kerala), Dec 25 (ANI): Ockhi survivors in the Ernakulam district of Kerala are in no mood to celebrate Christmas this year due to alleged lack of commitment by the government to provide adequate relief to them after the cyclone. Several houses were destroyed, fishermen died and went missing after the cyclone.

Several people are deprived of even basic necessities like shelters to celebrate Christmas and administration failed miserably, said a priest. Although survivors want to celebrate one of the biggest festivals of the world, they cannot due to such terrible conditions.

At least 39 people died and hundreds fishermen went missing after Cyclone Ockhi hit southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in start of December this year.
