One year on, flood victims in Kashmir rue government apathy

Poonch, Sep 14 (ANI): An year after floods ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, residents in Poonch district criticised government for providing inadequate help. Many villagers still live in their houses badly damaged by last year's floods.

Several shops, schools and businesses are still closed in the Kashmir valley. The residents accused the central government and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led-state dispensation of distributing lesser compensation money than promised.

According to the villagers, the government had promised to shift them to new and safer homes but nothing was done on ground.
