OROP Row: Ex-serviceman on fast unto death rushed to hospital

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): A day after ex-serviceman Colonel Pushpender Singh, who is on fast-unto-death, was taken to a hospital, another fasting Army veteran, Havaldar Ashok Kumar Chauhan who was on hunger for now 8 days, was on Tuesday taken to RR hospital after his health deteriorated. However, another protesting ex-serviceman, Havaldar Major Singh, who is on hunger strike for 10 days now refused to go to hospital and continued his strike even after his health worsened.

Meanwhile, ex-servicemen Uday Singh Rawat and Major Pyaare Chand join hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The hunger strike called by hundreds of retired soldiers in New Delhi entered its tenth day on Tuesday. OROP has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
