Patel Agitation: Curfew imposed in parts of Gujarat, schools and colleges remain closed

Ahmedabad/Rajkot/Surat/Vadodara, August 26 (ANI): Leading the protest to demand OBC reservation for the Patel community in Gujarat, Hardik Patel called for a state-wide bandh on Wednesday. Curfew was imposed in Mehsana city and Unjha and Visnagar towns after incidents of arson in which attempts were made to set Gujarat Minister of State of Home Rajni Patel's house on fire.

Police also imposed curfew in Kapodara and Althan areas of the city after the livid mob resorted to violent behaviour and arson. Paramilitary forces like State Reserve Police Force, BSF and Rapid Action Force were deployed in cities like Ahmedabad and Mehsana after the protests took a violent turn.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel tweeted over the incident saying, "I urge people to refrain from spreading and believing any rumours and support state administration in maintaining peace and harmony across Gujarat.
