People in Kerala attend grand feast on occasion of 'Onam'

Kochi/ Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 24 (ANI): A grand feast was organised for at least 16,000 people in Kochi city of Kerala on the auspicious occasion of ongoing harvest festival or Onam. People thronged the venue for the sumptuous traditional meal served in plantain leaves during 'Onam Sadhya', a vegetarian feast or banquet.

The 'Sadhya' has steamed rice as the main item which is served with an array of side dishes. The feast was organised by state-controlled oil and gas company, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for its employees, residents and tourists.

Meanwhile, flower business is thriving in state capital Thiruvananthapuram keeping in pace with the increasing demand due to ongoing celebrations. Despite skyrocketing price of variety of flowers, residents continued to buy colourful flowers to make 'Onappookalam' or floral designs.
