Police arrest five Maoists with arms and ammunition in Palamu

Palamu, Sep 15 (ANI): Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested five Maoists belonging to Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) in Jharkhand. Police conducted a search operation in Doondoor forest area under Chhaterpur police station of Palamu district after being informed of a Maoist hideout.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Palamu, Mayur Patel said they recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition during the raid. The Maoists, also known as 'Naxals' in India, seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state and have fought authorities for decades, particularly in rural areas of central and eastern India where they enjoy some support.
