Pothole claims child's life in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Aug 24 (ANI): A nine year old boy, riding pillion on his mother's scooter, came under the wheels of a private bus as she swerved to the right to avoid a pothole, and the bus grazed her Honda Activa. Mother, Sunitha fell to the left, while Likhith fell in the path of the bus.

Likhith Gowda would be in school today, if not for that huge pothole on Tumakuru Road. Likhith is the third victim of killer potholes in the city, in the past few months.

The bus driver and passersby rushed to help Sunitha and Likhith, who were taken to a nearby hospital. Likhith died en route to hospital.

Police detained the driver and registered a case. Traffic police and an enraged public filled up the pothole, using cement from a concrete mixer truck passing by.

Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic, MA Saleem ensured that strict action is being taken to fill all potholes in the city.
