Pro-Kannada activists mask Hindi signages at metro stations

Bengaluru (Karnataka), July 20 (ANI): Members of the 'Karnataka Rakshana Vedike' blackened the Hindi signboards outside metro stations in Bengaluru, on late Wednesday night. The workers covered the Hindi content with black paint at metro stations.

The incident comes days after pro-Kannada organisation staged several protests in opposition against the use of Hindi at public places. The opposition began after the usage of Hindi language in the Namma Metro Rail nameplates, claiming it to be a state project.

Earlier, the Karnataka Development Authority had sought a reply from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) in connection to the matter.
