Protesting ex-servicemen remain firm on demand for OROP

New Delhi, Aug 24 (ANI): Hundreds of retired soldiers protesting against the central government over the implementation of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme took out a candle light march in New Delhi. The ex-servicemen, along with their supporters, marched from New Delhi's popular protest site Jantar Mantar to iconic India Gate.

Earlier in the day, the daughter of Former Army Chief General (Retired) VK Singh, Mrinalini Singh joined in with veteran soldiers against their struggle. She appealed to the children of ex-servicemen to come out in full support of OROP, for the sake of the veterans who, in their late 70s, are on an indefinite hunger strike.

Another ex-serviceman said they would call off the protest if a final date for the implementation of the pension scheme was given to them. The central government has promised early implementation of OROP and urged the soldiers to call off their stir.
