Residents of five MLAs of Manipur set on fire over ILP issue

Manipur, Sep 01 (ANI): The houses of five law makers from Manipur turned to ashes after being set on fire by agitated locals over the Inner Line Permit issue. This came after the Manipur Assembly yesterday passed three bills at a special session in response to the violent protests demanding the implementation of the Inner Line Permit in Manipur.

Violence erupted in the tribal hill district of Churachandpur last evening and the angry mob set houses of the leaders on fire. The House unanimously passed three bills- Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015; Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (7th amendment) Bill, 2015 and Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015.

The Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015 is a prototype of Inner Line Permit System.
