Billionaire Rajiv Jain-backed GQG Partners on Friday hiked its stake in Patanjali Foods by acquiring a 1.24 per cent holding from promoter group entity Patanjali Ayurved Ltd for about Rs 835 crore through an open market transaction.
According to the bulk deal data available on the NSE, US-based asset management firm GQG Partners purchased 45.03 lakh shares or 1.24 per cent stake in edible oil major Patanjali Foods.
The shares were picked up at an average price of Rs 1,854 apiece, taking the deal value to Rs 834.99 crore.
After the latest transaction, GQG Partners' shareholding in Patanjali Foods has increased to 4.43 per cent from 3.19 per cent.
Meanwhile, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd on Friday sold 97.92 lakh shares or 2.71 per cent stake in the company for Rs 1,815 crore, the data showed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The shares were offloaded at an average price of Rs 1,854.08 per piece, taking the deal value to Rs 1,815.67 crore.

Fair trade watchdog CCI has selected the Management Development Institute Society (MDIS) to conduct a market study on artificial intelligence and competition that will examine various aspects, including potential competition issues in the AI ecosystems.
In April this year, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had issued a request for proposal to conduct the market study on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Competition.
The Gurugram-based MDIS has been engaged to conduct the study that will seek to understand certain key AI ecosystems, including stakeholders, resources, value chains, market structures and parameters of competition, CCI said in a release on Friday.
It will also examine the emerging and potential competition issues in these markets/ecosystems as well as look at the scope and nature of AI applications/use cases, and assess associated opportunities, risks and ramifications from a competition standpoint.

IIT-Delhi experts will enquire the recent incidents of bus fires and have recommended the names of six people who will serve as members of the committee, an official statement said.
The recommendation of the names of the experts came in the aftermath of directions from Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot to the Transport Department to constitute a committee to enquire into the incidents of fire in buses.
The committee will be chaired by Professor Anjan Ray, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and comprise experts from multiple departments, including Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering, as well as the Centre for Automotive Research, the statement read.
