Setting example of communal harmony, Muslims cremate Hindu woman in Kashmir

Anantnag (J and K), Jan 02 (ANI): Around 3,000 people, mostly Muslims recently gathered at Lavadora village of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir to perform the last rites of the deceased Kashmiri Pandit woman, Nancy Koul. As Koul's family was the only Hindu family in the whole village, all the arrangements of her funeral was done by Muslims that too in accordance with Hindu rituals, setting a great example of brotherhood.

According to the locals, Nancy and her husband decided to stay back in Kashmir valley with their Muslim brethren during the tumultuous years of 90's when all the Pandits were leaving the region due to militancy. Thus, the courage they showed at that time, when others decided to quit has been instrumental in strengthening the bond of two different communities.
