Siliguri man makes toy train models to popularise its glory

Siliguri (West Bengal), Jan 06 (ANI): A 24-year-old man makes miniature models of the famous the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the DHR or Toy Train and says that he wants to contribute to its glory. Expressing his desires, toy train maker Anurag Lakandery, resident of Tindharia under Darjeeling district of West-Bengal, said that the train should never cease to function even in worst conditions.

The train services saw a massive hit in the recent times as disruption in its services after continuous landslides, its track, offices affected by 2011 earthquake and also during Gorkhaland agitation stopped its services. Following these events Lakandery started making DHR Toy-Train models.

He said that he uses metal sheet and waste items to make the trains. The DHR is a 2ft narrow gauge railway based on zig zag and loop line technology that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the state of West-Bengal.
