Sports festival focusing on extra-curricular activities begins in Kashmir

Anantnag, Sep 15 (ANI): A sports festival aiming to emphasise upon the importance of sports in overall personality development is being held in Jammu and Kashmir. The 15-day long festival was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Government Degree College for Boys in Anantnag district.

While inaugurating the opening of the sports festival, Sayeed said the state will provide the funds required. He also added the youth in the state has been blessed with immense potential and educational institutions should make use of it by providing their talent a platform.

Participants from Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts will compete with each other in various sports including cricket, soccer, volleyball, badminton and kho kho. A participant, Usman Gani, seemed excited for the sports festival as it was held for the first time in south Kashmir.

The festival has been organised by Jammu and Kashmir police in collaboration with department of youth sports
