Sri Lankan navy apprehends 12 Indian fishermen

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Aug 10 (ANI): Sri Lankan navy on Thursday apprehended 12 fishermen from Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram, for allegedly crossing International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and entering their waters. The arrests were made when the fishermen ventured near the Katchatheevu island of Sri Lanka for fishing, and the navy chased them and captured three boats and reportedly damaged another.

As per local media reports, the fishermen have been taken to the Kankesanthurai naval camp for interrogation. Fishermen from both the countries often breach the un-demarcated International Maritime Boundary Line in search of catch, leading to arrest and detention.
