Stray dog menace continues in Kochi, child hospitalized after being bitten

Kochi, Sept 12 (ANI): As stray dog menace continues to create panic among the residents of Kerala, a school-going child was grievously injured after being bitten by a stray dog in Kochi. The child Mohammad Aman, a class 3 student, later had to be admitted to a hospital.

The child's father, Mohammed Raffiq, said his son was bitten by a dog while waiting for his school bus at a bus stop. This happened a day after a group of activists under the aegis of All India Animal Protection Group (AIAPG) observed a one-day hunger strike in Thiruvananthapuram to protest against state government's decision of culling stray dogs.

The Kerala government's decision to drastically cut down the population of stray dogs through large-scale culling came after cases of canine bite became rampant.
