Structure resembling historical Ashoka Pillar discovered

Angul (Odisha), Aug 04 (ANI): The Archaeological department has discovered a column resembling the historical Ashoka Pillar in Odisha's Angul. The structure was discovered by locals while digging a patch near a temple in Jharhiamba village.

The villagers have placed the column in a temple and have been worshipping it as 'Shiva Linga'. Ashoka Pillar, erected by the Mauryan ruler Ashoka, is regarded with historical reverence in India.
