Telangana Environment Minister joins plantation drive under 'Haritha Haram' programme

Hyderabad (Telangana), Aug 03 (ANI): Telangana Minister for Forest and Environment and Backward Classes Welfare, Jogu Ramanna, planted a sapling in the Rangareddy's Gopanpally Village on Wednesday. Sporting a green scarf, the minister joined the plantation drive which was organised as part of the state Government's flagship programme 'Haritha Haram'.

Addressing the media, he said: "We planted saplings here today. Close to 16 Crore Ten Lakh saplings have been planted till date.

People are participating actively. They are planting in their houses, farms, schools and everywhere possible.

Our Chief Minister plans to have green brigadier and maintain plants. Not only planting, we should also take care of the plants." Taken up by the Telangana Government in 2015 at Chilkur Rangareddy district, 'Haritha Haram' aims to increase the present 24 percent tree cover upto 33 percent of the total geographical area of the state.
