Thousands of women hit the streets demanding liquor ban in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Sept 07 (ANI): Regional Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party led thousands of women protesters demanding liquor ban in Tamil Nadu on Monday. Youth wing president of PMK, Anbumani Ramadoss, led the protests and demanded Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa to impose ban on sale and production of liquor in the state.

Social activist Swami Agnivesh joined the protests in Chennai seeking shut down of around 6,000 Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) outlets in the state. Addressing the rally, Agnivesh said it was shameful of the state government to earn revenue out of something that was the cause of so many evils in the society.
