Tomato prices continue to rise across India

Hubli (Karnataka)/Gorakhpur (U.P.), July 22 (ANI): Prices of tomatoes continue to soar across India adding to the distress of common man. Price of tomatoes, an essential ingredient of Indian cuisine and consumed extensively across India, touched Rs.

100 per kg in certain parts of the country. People in Hubli are upset with the rising prices as the skyrocketing prices have made tomatoes go out of reach of the common man.

In Uttar Pradesh, tomatoes are being sold anywhere between Rs. 80 per kg.

A seller, Pintu Sonkar, said the stock of tomatoes had been destroyed due to the rains and as tomatoes were being brought from other parts of the country this, had led to an increase in the price. Meanwhile, the price of other vegetables also continued to rise burning a hole in the common man's pocket.
