Kanpur (U.P.), Jan 03 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered madrasas to cut down on holidays on Muslim festivals. The government has also made it mandatory to allow holidays on festivals of other faiths.

They have come up with a new calendar with reduced discretionary holidays around Muslim festivals. The madrasa owners and Muslims are deeply upset after the order which, according to them, is an attempt to corner them.

The new calendar has seven new holidays added while10 discretionary holidays allowed to madrasas for festivals like Id-ul-Zuha and Muharram have been reduced to four days.
