Wailing family members accuse govt. of not issuing warnings about cyclone Ockhi

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Dec 01 (ANI): Mourning family members of missing fishermen have allegedly accused government of not issuing warnings ahead of cylone Ockhi's arrival. People, who are in grief after their loved ones remain untraceable, said they have received no warnings on part of the administration.

So far, at least eight have been killed and over 80 went missing after torrential rains hit southern districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal intensified into cyclonic storm 'Ockhi' on Thursday.

Total 6 warships have been deployed in Kochi while two coast guard ships are on standby in Lakshadweep for rescue operations. Several helicopters have also been put on standby, along with some divers to conduct rescue operations.

The deadly storm has killed seven people in neighbouring Sri Lanka and affected the lives of nearly 20,000 people.
