Amazon all set to revolutionise food industry with ready-to-eat meals

New Delhi, Aug 12 (ANI): American electronic commerce and cloud computing company, Amazon is exploring new technologies to bring ready-to-eat food which are healthier. The read-to-eat meal is more nutritious than processed foods and can be stable on a shelf for a year.

The online shopping giant is planning to sell food prepared with microwave assisted thermal sterilization technology (MATS). In this technology, the food is placed in hot, pressurized water and cooked with microwaves for a few minutes.

It was at the Paris Food Trade Show last year that Amazon stumbled upon the idea. The company started working on commercialising the technology with 915 labs in Denver.

While the food is still awaiting Food and Drug Administration's approval, MATS dishes will not be available until 2018.
