First phase of Nepal polls sees 65 percent voter turnout

Myagdi (Nepal), Nov 27 (ANI): Around 65 percent voter turnout was witnessed in the first phase of parliamentary and provincial elections held peacefully across 32 districts in Nepal on Sunday. Bajura district, situated in far west Nepal, witnessed the highest voter turnout with 80 percent people exercising their right to franchise.

Voting was held across 4,465 polling stations in 37 electoral constituencies in the first phase. These votes will decide the fate of 702 candidates who were in the fray for 37 Parliament seats and 74 seats of provincial assemblies.

The second phase of federal and provincial elections will be held on December 7.
