The Union Cabinet is learnt to have given its nod on Tuesday to a bill that will replace the ordinance promulgated for the creation of an authority for transfers and postings of Group-A officers in Delhi, sources said.
The legislation was approved by a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here this evening. The bill is expected to be tabled in the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament to replace the ordinance, the sources said.
An ordinance is promulgated by the President on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet when the Parliament is not in session. It is mandatory for the Parliament to adopt a law to replace the ordinance within six weeks of the commencement of the next session.
The controversial Delhi ordinance was promulgated by the central government on May 19, a week after the Supreme Court handed over the control of services in Delhi excluding police, public order and land to the elected government headed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

A team of mountaineers from the army's Dagger Division has  achieved a historic feat by climbing the 7,077-metre high Mount Kun in record seven days to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations.
"The journey commenced on July 8 when the team was flagged off from Baramulla by Maj Gen Rajesh Sethi, GOC, 19 Infantry Division. Setting off from the base camp on July 11, the intrepid mountaineers led by Col Rajneesh Joshi achieved their long-awaited victory as they summited Mount Kun on July 18 at 11:40 am," a defence spokesman said here.
To give an extraordinary touch to their accomplishment, the mountaineers also performed yoga at the 7,077 metres altitude, making it the highest point ever where yoga has been practiced, he said.
"This remarkable feat not only showcases the unwavering dedication and exceptional skills of the Indian Army's mountaineering team, but also highlights the deep-rooted connection between physical well-being and spiritual practices," the spokesman noted.

Companies under the Production Linked Incentive scheme for local manufacturing of telecom and networking products have done exports worth Rs 6,911 crore till May 2023, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
Production Linked Incentive scheme was launched on February 24, 2021, to promote domestic manufacturing of specified telecom and networking products, including 4G, 5G products and also design-led manufacturing in the country.
"The companies under the scheme have made an export of Rs 6,911 crore up till 31.05.2023," Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
He said the number of 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) by various telecom service providers totalled 2.81 lakh as of July 7, 2023.
Chauhan also shared the operator-wise data for the same, which showed Airtel had 53,223 5G BTSs, Reliance Jio (2.28 lakh) and Vodafone Idea (36).

The proposed demerger of the hotels division of ITC into a separate entity will not affect synergies with other business lines of the conglomerate, according to analysts.
The board of ITC on Monday accorded in-principle approval to demerge its hotels business into a new entity to be listed pursuant to a scheme of arrangement.
Broking firm JM Financial said in a report "synergies between hotels and other ITC businesses like foods should largely remain unaffected".
The firm said that ITC will continue to hold 40 per cent shareholding in the new entity post-demerger and the balance of 60 per cent will be owned by the shareholders.
This, according to JM Financial, will help the demerged business to raise and deploy its own capital to fund growth of the hotel business and ensure it remains on top amongst peers.
This move of demerger will also point towards a sharper capital allocation strategy of ITC, the report said.

Boeing flipped to a USD 149 million loss in the second quarter despite higher revenue, as the plane maker struggled with higher costs in both its airline and defense business.
