Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the Indian arm of South Korean automaker Hyundai, is expected to launch its much-awaited Rs 25,000-crore initial share-sale for public subscription on October 14, people familiar with the development said on Thursday.
This would be the largest initial public offering (IPO) in India after LIC's initial share sale of Rs 21,000 crore.
According to the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) filed in June, Hyundai Motor India's proposed IPO is entirely an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) of 142,194,700 equity shares by promoter Hyundai Motor Company, with no fresh issue component.
Sources had previously stated that the South Korean automaker is looking to raise at least USD 3 billion (about Rs 25,000 crore) through an initial share sale.
This development marks a significant milestone for the Indian industry, as it is the first automaker's initial share sale in over two decades, following Japanese automaker Maruti Suzuki's listing in 2003.

Two and three wheeler major TVS Motor company has garnered a 20 per cent sales in September by retailing 4,82,495 units, the company said on Tuesday.
The city-headquartered company had registered sales of 4,02,553 units during the same month of last year.
Sales of electric vehicles last month surged by 42 per cent to 28,901 units, from 20,356 units sold in the same month of last year.
Total two-wheeler sales recorded a 22 per cent growth to 4,71,792 units in September 2024, as compared to 3,86,955 units in same month of last year. Sales of two-wheeler in domestic market went up by 23 per cent to 3,69,138 units, from 3,00,493 units sold in September 2023.
Sales of motorcycles in September 2024 grew by 23 per cent to 2,29,268 units, as against 1,86,438 units sold in corresponding month of last year.
Scooter sales saw 20 per cent growth to 1,86,751 units in September 2024 from 1,55,526 units in September 2023.
On the exports front, the company witnessed an 11 per cent growth in sale

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has handed over the first AL-31FP Aero Engine, manufactured under the 240 engine contract, to the Indian Air Force at Koraput in Odisha.
The contract for 240 AL-31FP Aero Engines for Su-30MKI aircraft was signed on September nine, Bengaluru-headquartered HAL noted in a statement on Tuesday, adding, these engines would be delivered in eight years.
The statement said Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar lauded HAL's efforts in delivering the first engine within weeks of signing the contract.
"This key milestone reflects HAL's aero engine manufacturing competency and dedication to support the Su-30MKI fleet of IAF.  It is very heartening to see that Koraput Division has mastered cutting edge technologies of aero engine manufacturing and has set up required infrastructure to match with the global OEMs, he said.

Realty firm Birla Estates has sold properties worth about Rs 600 crore in its new housing project in Bengaluru.
Birla Estates, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd (formerly Century Textiles and Industries Ltd) said in a regulatory filing, "Birla Trimaya Phase II  The Park, has sold almost 95 per cent of its inventory within 24 hours of its launch achieving an approximate booking value of about Rs 600 crore."
In the first phase of this project, the company had sold properties worth about Rs 500 crore.
"Overall, the cumulative booking value achieved till date is about Rs 1,100 crore and the project is anticipated to generate a revenue potential of around Rs 3,000 crore across the entire 52 acre development," it added.
The project is located at Shettigere Road, Devanahalli, Bengaluru North.
