At least three persons, including two grocers, have been arrested, days after five persons died due to suspected consumption of an Ayurvedic syrup containing methanol sold by their shop in Gujarat's Kheda district, police said on Saturday.
Two others, who had supplied bottles of the syrup, are yet to be arrested.
The shop had sold bottles of the syrup to at least 50 persons, as per the preliminary investigation.
A five-member special investigation team (SIT) led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nadiad, was formed to investigate the case, said Kheda district Superintendent of Police Rajesh Gadhiya.
"We have arrested Kishor Sodha and his brother Ishwar Sodha, the owners of the grocery store which sold the suspected syrup to the victims. When the duo was questioned, they identified one Yogesh Sindhi as the person who supplied them with the syrup. All three were arrested yesterday (Friday)," Gadhiya told reporters.

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Saturday announced the exemption of house or property tax for the residential areas across the MCD's rural jurisdiction.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will not collect any house tax from 'lal dora' or extended 'lal dora' properties in the rural areas, Oberoi told a press conference here.
"The MCD will neither send notice nor collect property tax from the residential areas whether it be under 'lal dora' or extended 'lal dora' in all its villages. This is a big relief from CM Arvind Kejriwal for the people of Delhi residing in the rural areas," she said.
Oberoi added the tax levied on the commercial properties in the rural areas will, however, continue to remain the same.
Around 2,168 roads in Delhi's rural areas are notified under the MCD and the commercial properties on these roads will continue to pay property tax.
The decision has been taken after a panchayat of Delhi's 360 villages was held on September 3 to discuss the issue of property

The CBI is conducting searches at six locations in four cities in connection with the alleged graft flagged by former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik in awarding the contract for the Rs 2,200-crore civil work for the Kiru Hydro Power Project in Kishtwar in 2019, officials said on Saturday.
The searches are spread across three locations, including the premises of Kanwaljeet Singh Duggal of Mainstream IT Solutions Private Limited and D P Singh, they said.
Three premises of the company and Duggal in Delhi and one each in Shimla, Noida and Chandigarh are being covered during the operation, the officials said.
This is the fourth round of searches in the case in which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had already carried out similar operations on April 21 and July 6 last year and May 17 this year, they said.

Denim brand Pepe Jeans London is aiming for sales of around Rs 2,000 crore from the Indian market and plans to expand its retail network by adding over 100 stores in the next three years, its India MD and CEO Manish Kapoor said.
Pepe Jeans London, owned by Spanish global fashion group AWWG, is "very buoyant" for the Indian market, and aims to grow at 18-20 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the next three to five years, Kapoor told PTI.
As part of the strategy, Pepe Jeans is now focusing on the expansion of its network of brand stores and fast-growing e-commerce channels. Pepe Jeans expects 55 per cent of its business to come directly by selling to consumers from its own sales channels.
Over Pepe Jeans' expansion plans, Kapoor told PTI, "We will add 100 odd stores in the next three years and in terms of a turnover, we are looking at a CAGR growth of 18 to 20 per cent. So we should be almost around Rs 2,000 crore of consumer sales in three years."
