A day after presenting bi-monthly monetary policy, Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Saturday met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The meeting comes just ahead of the extended term of incumbent RBI Governor coming to an end. Das's three-year extended term comes to an end on December 10.
In 2021, the government had announced a three-year extension to Das's tenure, a month before his term came to an end.
According to sources, Das called on the Finance Minister in the evening here.
The career bureaucrat-turned-central banker, Das, was appointed the 25th RBI Governor on December 12, 2018, after the abrupt exit of Urjit Patel.
With the three-year-extension granted to Das, he is already one of the longest serving RBI governors in its 90-year history.
The RBI had on Friday opted for a status quo on the rates for the 11th consecutive time, amid growing calls to address the slowdown in GDP growth in the September quarter at 5.4 per cent.

After heavy selling in the past two months, foreign investors have staged a strong comeback to Indian equities with a net investment of Rs 24,454 crore in the first week of December amid stabilising global conditions and expectations of potential US Federal Reserve rate cuts.
This revival follows significant outflows in the preceding months, with foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pulling out a net Rs 21,612 crore in November and a massive Rs 94,017 crore in October - the worst monthly outflow on record.
Interestingly, September had marked a nine-month high for FPI inflows, with a net investment of Rs 57,724 crore, highlighting the volatility in foreign investment trends.
With the latest inflow, FPI investments have reached Rs 9,435 crore in 2024 so far, data with the depositories showed.
Looking ahead, the flow of foreign investments into Indian equity markets will hinge on several key factors. These include the policies implemented under Donald Trump's presidency, the prevailing

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to dispose of the toxic waste lying at the now-defunct Union Carbide factory in Bhopal, and said even 40 years after the gas disaster, the authorities are in a "state of inertia" that may cause "another tragedy". Moody's Ratings has upgraded the corporate family rating (CFR) of Oravel Stays Limited -- travel tech platform OYO's parent firm -- and the rating on the senior secured term loan issued by its wholly-owned subsidiary OYO Singapore to B2 from B3, and maintained the stable outlook.
In a statement on Wednesday, Moody's said it has assigned a B2 rating to the USD 825 million senior secured term loan facility to be availed by Oravel Stays Singapore Pte. (OYO Singapore). The term loan is fully underwritten by Deutsche Bank.
Elaborating upon the rating rationale, Moody's said OYO is in the process of securing a new five-year USD 825 million term loan, which together with the USD 174 million of primary equity capital raised between June and August 2024, will be used to repay its existing TLB that matures in June 2026, easing its refinancing pressures.
The proceeds will also fund the company's proposed USD 525-million acquisition of US-based hotel chain Motel 6.

Elections to five municipal corporations and 44 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Punjab will be held on December 21, the State Election Commission said on Sunday.
All necessary arrangements have been made for the civic body polls, it said.
Addressing the media here, State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri said polling for five municipal corporations and 44 municipal councils and Nagar panchayats will be held from 7 am to 4 pm.
"The model code of conduct will come into force from today," he said.
The five municipal corporations going to polls are Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara.
The process of filing nominations will start from December 9 and the last date will be December 12. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on December 13 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations will be December 14, Chaudhuri said.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has launched three transformative programmes to drive energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment across the state, according to a statement.
The EESL is a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power.
The first programme launched, the URJAVEER, developed by EESL, aims to empower 1 lakh individuals in Andhra as "Urjaveers"  ambassadors for energy efficiency who promote appliances available on EESLmart.in through affiliate-based marketing, EESL said in the statement.
Under this programme, any Indian citizen aged 18 and above can register on the Urjaveer platform, complete a short skill training on energy efficiency, and promote products like BEE 5-star LED bulbs, BLDC fans, air conditioners, and induction cooktops using unique QR codes.
