An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 struck on Saturday off the cost of the Philippines island of Mindanao. A tsunami warning was issued.
The quake struck at 10:37 p.m. and was measured at a moderate depth of 32 kilometers (20 miles).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said based on the magnitude and location it expected tsunami waves to hit the Philippines, Indonesia, Palau and Malaysia.

Tata Power on Saturday said it has acquired Bikaner-Neemrana Transmission Project through a bidding process.
Bikaner-III Neemrana-II Transmission Ltd is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up by PFC Consulting, for the project.
The company has acquired Bikaner-Neemrana Transmission Project to boost renewable energy evacuation in India, a company statement said.
The company received the letter of intent (LOI) after emerging as a successful bidder in the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, as per the guidelines issued by Ministry of Power, it added.
The project, which will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis, will enable the evacuation of 7.7 GW of renewable energy from the Bikaner Complex in Rajasthan.
The project entails establishment of a 340-km transmission corridor from Bikaner-III pooling station to Neemrana II substation.

Aditya Birla group firm UltraTech Cement Ltd on Wednesday said it has acquired the cement grinding assets of Burnpur Cement Ltd in Jharkhand for Rs 169.79 crore.
The company has acquired 0.54 mtpa cement grinding assets of Burnpur Cement Ltd, located at Patratu in Jharkhand, UltraTech Cement said in a regulatory filing.
"The acquisition has been carried out at a consideration of Rs 169.79 crore in terms of the provisions of the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002 read with the Security Interest (Enforcement) Rules, 2002," it added.
This investment marks the company's entry in Jharkhand, the filing said, adding the company's capacity in India now stands at 133 mtpa.
Last year state-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) had put up for sale the account of loss-making Burnpur Cement and invited bids from Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) to recover loans outstanding of over Rs 50 crore.

The Congress in Telangana has asked its candidates who contested in the assembly elections and the agents to stay at the counting centres throughout the day to oversee the process on Sunday.
The elections for the 119-member assembly were held on November 30 and the counting will take place on December 3.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a virtual meeting with senior party leaders on Saturday and asked them to be vigilant, party sources said here.
The sources also said Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is expected to reach Hyderabad on Saturday.
His visit is understood to help the state party leaders and to prevent any poaching of MLAs.
Earlier in the day in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said that some people were trying to get in touch with the winning candidates in Telangana. However, the Congress will manage it locally, he added.
Expressing confidence that Congress would win the Telangana assembly elections with a comfortable majority, party leaders said exit polls also .

As many as 18 students of a government school in Punjab's Sangrur district were rushed to a hospital as they complained of stomach ache and vomiting after having a meal in the hostel mess, officials said on Saturday.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the food contractor has been arrested and an inquiry by the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) has been ordered in the matter.
Eighteen school students of the government meritorious school at Ghabdan were rushed to the civil hospital on Friday evening after they complained of stomach ache and vomiting, an official said.
Officials suspect it is a case of food poisoning.
Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Saturday said 18 students were brought to the civil hospital, of which 14 have been discharged.
Four still remain admitted, Jorwal said while speaking to reporters in Sangrur.
He further said 36 more students were brought to the civil hospital on Saturday and all of them were stable. They did not report any loose mot
