India, the world's third-largest energy consumer, will see its energy needs doubling by the end of this decade as it witnesses an unprecedented explosion of economic growth, the nation's richest man Mukesh Ambani said on Saturday.
Speaking at the convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Ambani, who heads the nation's most valuable company Reliance Industries Ltd, said the Indian economy will become a USD 40 trillion economy by 2047 from the current USD 3.5 trillion.
"And to fuel this growth, the country will need enormous amounts of energy - clean, green energy that won't choke mother nature for the sake of human progress," he said. "In fact, India's energy requirement is set to double just by the end of this decade."
Ambani is pivoting its largest fossil-fuel-dominated conglomerate to clean energy, investing billions of dollars in building giga factories to produce new energy ecosystems as well as generate renewable energy, and produce green hydrogen.

Tyre maker CEAT Ltd on Thursday said it has received a demand notice of Rs 1.98 crore for GST, along with a penalty from the Additional Commissioner, CGST, and Central Excise.
The demand pertains to the disallowance of transitional credit and Trans2 credit under the applicable provisions of the CGST Act, 2017, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The Additional Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Vadodara-II, issued the order for a demand of Rs 1.80 crore, along with a penalty of Rs 18 lakh, it added.
"The company is in the process of analysing the matter and taking appropriate action for an appeal to be filed with the appellate authority," CEAT Ltd said.
On the impact on financial, operation or other activities of the company quantifiable in monetary terms to the extent possible, CEAT said, "(It is) not ascertainable at this stage.

Two-wheeler retail sales are expected to increase by just 4-7 per cent in volume terms in the domestic market this fiscal year despite logging strong growth in the festive period, according to a report.
The festive season this year saw robust growth in two-wheeler retails aided by the upcoming wedding season and some recovery in rural demand, which supported sales growth in the entry-level (110 cc) segment, the report by rating firm Icra stated.
The dealer inventory remained at near normal levels, with the OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) wary of a build-up in inventory at the dealerships, it added.
"The industry is expected to record a moderate growth in volumes in FY 2024 (4-7 per cent) even as export volumes remain impacted by weak demand," Icra said.
Elaborating on the passenger vehicles, Icra stated that the segment is expected to record a moderate growth in volumes in FY2024 (6-9 per cent) and reach an all-time high during the period.

The market capitalisation of listed companies on the NSE has surpassed the USD 4 trillion (Rs 334.72 trillion) mark for the first time ever, with the benchmark Nifty hitting its all-time high of 20,291.55 last Friday.
The benchmark Nifty climbed 134.75 points or 0.67 per cent to settle at an all-time high of 20,267.90 on Friday. During the day, the benchmark reached its intra-day record high of 20,291.55.
The Nifty-500 index also touched an all-time high of 18,141.65 on the same day, indicating that the equity market rally is not restricted to only the large-cap stocks.
"The achievement of this milestone is a testament of the vision outlined for the Amrit Kaal which includes a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy with strong public finances, and a robust financial sector," NSE said in a statement on Sunday.

The Bharatiya Adivasi Party registered its first victory in Madhya Pradesh by winning the Sailana seat of Ratlam district.
The party's Kamleshwar Dodiyar defeated the nearest rival and Congress candidate Harsh Vijay Gehlot in Sailana constituency by a margin of 4,618 votes as per the Election Commission.
This is the first time that the Bharat Adivasi Party, headquartered in Rajasthan, has registered a victory in any election in Madhya Pradesh.
Sailana seat of Ratlam is located on the borders of Rajasthan.

Independent candidate Chandrabhan Aakya, who had to make way for a relative of former India Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, won from Chittorgarh.
Aakya, the sitting MLA from Chittorgarh, won the seat defeating closest rivals Congress candidate Surendra Singh and BJP candidate Narpat Singh Rajvi.
Ahead of the polls, BJP had replaced Aakya with Narpat Singh Rajvi, the son-in-law of former vice president late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, shifting him from Jaipur's Vidhyadhar Nagar seat to Chittorgarh.
Rajvi's constituency was changed because Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari was fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar.
Diya Kumari won the seat by 71,368 votes.
At the latest vote count, total of six independent candidates were leading in Rajasthan, three of them BJP rebels.
Ravindra Singh Bhati in Sheo is leading by 18,466 votes, while followed by independent candidate Fateh Khan and Ameen Khan in second and third places.
