The Bihar government has increased the monetary reward for gallantry award winners, and those winning Param Vir Chakra from the state will now be given Rs 1 crore instead of the previous Rs 10 lakh, an official said on Saturday.
The Param Vir Chakra is India's top military decoration awarded for the highest degree of valour or self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy.
The state government also hiked the reward amount for Ashok Chakra awardees from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 75 lakh, for Mahaveer Chakra from Rs 5 lakh to 50 lakh, for Kirti Chakra from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, for Veera Chakra from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, and for Shaurya Chakra from Rs 1.5 lakh to 8 lakh, according to a notification.
The Army, Navy or Air Force Medal winners will get Rs 7 lakh instead of the current Rs 75,000 and in Mention in Dispatches cases, the reward was increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 6 lakh, the notification said.

Realty firm Gaurs Group has sold nearly 200 apartments in its new luxury housing projects in Greater Noida for Rs 1,300 crore amid strong consumer demand.
Gaurs Group has launched a luxury residential project 'Legacy by Gaurs', comprising around 250 units, at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida.
"The first phase of the project has generated Rs 1,300 crore in sales, with nearly 200 apartments sold," the company said in a statement on Saturday.
The project features spacious residences in two configurations: 3,500 sq ft and 4,700 sq ft, across four towers, comprising a total of about 250 apartments.
Gaurs Group Director Sarthak Gaur said, "The overwhelming response to 'Legacy by Gaurs' is a true reflection of the trust and confidence homebuyers have in us. For over 30 years, we've focused not only on delivering homes but on creating long-term value for our customers."
He said the group has delivered nearly 50,000 units in the last decade alone.

SpiceJet will hold its annual general meeting for the 2023-24 financial year on December 30.
At the meeting, the airline will seek shareholders' approval for increasing the authorised share capital to infuse fresh share capital, according to a regulatory filing on Saturday.
Approvals will also be sought for the re-appointment of Ajay Singh as a director, appointment of Sonum Gayatri Malhotra as an independent director and for adopting audited financial statements for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The meeting will be held on December 30.
Currently, the company's authorised share capital is Rs 15,000,000,000.
The filing said in order to facilitate the infusion of fresh share capital in the company, it is necessary to increase the authorised share capital to Rs 20,000,000,000.

This success comes as a relief for the industry after theatres in the country were faced with the challenge of few films working well at the box office

India is in the process of providing viability gap funding for electrolyser manufacturing capacity of about 3,000 MW per annum to boost green hydrogen production in the country, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.
This assumes significance as India had launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an initial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore in January 2023.
The Mission aims to develop green hydrogen production capacity of at least 5 MMT (Million Metric Tonne) per annum with an associated renewable energy capacity addition of about 125 GW in the country.
"For Electrolyser Manufacturing, contracts have been awarded/are under process for a capacity of 3,000 MW per annum," Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
He further said for Green hydrogen production, capacity has been awarded for 4,12,000 tons per annum.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that a government accommodation will soon be allotted to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, which he is entitled to as the chief of a national party.
Responding to a question at a press conference, Khattar said that as the president of a national party, Kejriwal is entitled to a Type VII bungalow.
However, all Type VII bungalows are currently occupied, he added.
"At present, we only have Type V and VI bungalows available, but there is currently no availability of Type VII bungalows. Kejriwal will be allotted a Type VII bungalow as soon as it is available," Khattar said
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been demanding a central government accommodation for Kejriwal, asserting that he is entitled to it as the convenor of a national party.
The party recently sent a letter to the Union Housing Ministry reiterating this demand.
