The Delhi government decided on Tuesday to pay financial assistance of Rs 8,000 to each of the over 90,000 registered workers affected by the construction ban in the city due to severe air pollution.
The construction ban was imposed on November 18 under the Graded Response Action Plan measure to check pollution.
According to officials, the decision was taken at a meeting of the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chaired by additional chief secretary (finance) Ashish Chandra Verma.
The move comes in the wake of a recent Supreme Court direction to the chief secretaries of NCR states to appear before it through video-conferencing on December 5 and inform whether or not any subsistence allowance was paid to the construction workers who went without work owing to the restrictions.

Air India Express on Tuesday announced the launch of four new routes from Bhubaneswar as a part of the airline's expansion plan in eastern India.
These services will connect the Odisha capital to Jaipur, Lucknow, Kochi and Patna, the airline said in a statement.
This expansion reinforces Bhubaneswar's connectivity to key regional and cultural centres across India, it said.
The services to Jaipur and Kochi will commence on January 3, 2025, followed by the launch of flights to Lucknow on January 4 and Patna on January 15, the statement said.
Bookings are now open.
The Bhubaneswar-Jaipur flight will operate four days a week - Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while the Bhubaneswar-Kochi and Bhubaneswar-Patna flights will operate daily.
The Bhubaneswar-Lucknow flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Tuesday approved a proposed transaction involving GMR Infra Enterprises Pvt Ltd and a trust of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
The proposed combination involves subscription to unlisted and unrated optionally convertible debentures of GMR Infra Enterprises by Platinum Stone A 2014 Trust (acting through its trustee Platinum Rock B 2014 RSC Ltd), according to a release.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority is the sole beneficiary of Platinumb Stone.
GMR Infra Enterprises Pvt Ltd will acquire a cumulative of approximately 9 per cent stake on a fully diluted basis of GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) from its promoter -- GMR Enterprises Pvt Ltd (GEPL).
The shareholding of GAL held by GMR Infra Enterprises will be pledged in favour of the trust with a view to secure the debenture subscription amount, the release said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the opposition INDIA bloc, signaling her intent to take charge of the alliance if given the opportunity.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said she could manage the dual responsibility of running the opposition front while continuing her role as the chief minister of Bengal.
