Telecom service providers gross revenue increased by 5.88 per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 80,899 crore during the quarter ended June 2023, sector regulator Trai said on Tuesday.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Performance Indicator Report, the gross revenue declined 5.22 per cent on a quarterly basis from Rs 85,356 crore registered in March 2023 quarter.
The applicable gross revenue (ApGR) and adjusted gross revenue (AGR), on which government share of revenue is calculated, increased by 6.17 per cent and 8.42 per cent to Rs 78,349 crore and Rs 65,354 crore, respectively, according to the report.
Gross Revenue (GR) decreased by 5.22 per cent, Applicable Gross Revenue (ApGR) fell by 0.36 per cent and Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) increased by 1.75 per cent during the quarter ended June 2023. On YoY basis, GR increased by 5.88 per cent, ApGR rose by 6.17 per cent and AGR increased by 8.42 per cent in the quarter ended June 2023, the report said.

RJD president Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said that top leaders of the INDIA bloc will be meeting on December 17 to chalk out the strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Prasad was posed with queries by journalists, in Buxar district of Bihar, about the meeting that was scheduled on Wednesday but was deferred due to the inability of several top leaders to attend.
"The meeting has now been rescheduled to December 17," said Prasad, a staunch ally of the Congress and also known to be close to the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Speculations have been rife that Prasad's ally Nitish Kumar, the CM of Bihar, was reluctant to attend the meeting on Wednesday. Four entities on Friday pared 11.7 per cent stake in GMR Airports Infrastructure for Rs 4,136 crore through open market transactions.
According to the bulk deal data available with the BSE, A/D Investors Fund LP, ASN Investments Ltd, Varanium India Opportunity Fund and Deccan Value Investors Fund LP offloaded more than 70.99 crore shares, amounting to 11.75 per cent stake in GMR Airports Infrastructure.
The shares were sold in the price range of Rs 58.20-58.47 apiece, taking the combined transaction value to Rs 4,135.84 crore.
Varanium India Opportunity Ltd, ASN Investments and A/D Investors Fund LP offloaded their entire stakes and exited the firm, while Deccan Value Investors Fund LP shareholding reduced stake to 0.96 per cent from 1.89 per cent.
Meanwhile, Rajiv Jain-backed GQG Partners bought 28.28 crore shares, amounting to a 4.7 per cent stake in GMR Airports Infrastructure.

While the Law Commission had recommended a target of 50 judges per million people 36 years ago, India has 21 judges per million people, the Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.
To calculate the judge-population ratio, the Law Ministry used the Census 2011 population data (1210.19 million) and the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court, 25 high courts and district and subordinate courts in 2023, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said in a written reply.
"As per the target recommended by Law Commission's 1987 report recommending 50 judges per million population, presently the judge-population ratio in the country works out to be approximately 21 judges per million population," the minister said.
On the timeline to bridge the gap, the minister said the increase in the number of judges in the higher judiciary is a continuous and collaborative exercise between the Executive and the Judiciary.

The gender parity index in higher education in the national capital declined to 1.04 in 2020-21 from 1.16 in 2018-19, according to data published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.
Gender parity index (GPI) is defined as the ratio of number of females to males enrolled in a given stage of education.
The index ideally should be between 0.97 and 1.03, as per the report 'Women and Men in Delhi 2023'.
However, the number of female students per 100 male students in important educational programmes in Delhi has shown a rise.
Comparing the data recorded across various higher education courses in 2012-13 and 2020-21, it was observed that the GPI increased from 0.84 to 0.9 in PhD, 0.73 to 1.02 in postgraduate, 1.03 to 1.11 in undergraduate, 0.51 to 0.73 in PG Diploma and 0.53 to 0.84 in Diploma programme in regular mode of education.

The linking of Aadhaar details with voter identity cards has not yet begun, Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.
In a written reply, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said linking of Aadhaar is process-driven.
He also said no targets have been given for linking Aadhaar details with the electoral photo identity card.
"... The Election Commission has informed that linking of Aadhar with EPIC has not yet started," he said.
He also noted that the time period to submit Form 6B (to link Aadhaar card) has been extended for a period of one year -- March 31, 2024.
The Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021 allows electoral registration officers to require the existing or prospective elector to provide the Aadhaar number for the purpose of establishing identity on a "voluntary basis", he said.

The Union Cabinet on Friday approved an additional allocation of Rs 2,500 crore for the continuation of interest equalisation or subsidy scheme on pre- and post-shipment rupee export credit up to June 30 next year.
This would help exporters from identified sectors and all MSME manufacturer exporters to avail rupee export credit at competitive rates at a time when the global economy is facing headwinds.

The decision in this regard was taken by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It "has approved an additional allocation of Rs 2,500 crore for continuation of Interest Equalisation Scheme till 30th June 2024," an official statement said on Friday.
The additional outlay of Rs 2500 crore, over and above the current outlay of Rs 9,538 crore under the Scheme, is made available to bridge the funding gap to continue the Scheme up to  June 2024.

India on Friday said it remains concerned over the deteriorating security situation arising out of the Hamas-Israel conflict and called for "restraint and de-escalation" while emphasising on a peaceful resolution of the conflict through "dialogue and diplomacy".
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informed the Lok Sabha that India strongly condemned the October 7 terror attack on Israel and also the loss of civilian lives in the ongoing conflict.
"We remain concerned at the deteriorating security situation and have called for restraint, de-escalation and emphasised peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy," he said in a written reply to a question.
